Army Emergency Relief is a non-profit organization which provides emergency financial assistance to Active duty Soldiers and their Family members, Army National Guard and Army Reserve Soldiers on continuous active duty for more than 30 days (Title 10, USC), Retired Soldiers and their Family. Financial assistance may be provided to purchase food or emergency travel, POV repairs, rent, utility bills, funeral and medical expenses. AER is U.S. Army's emergency financial assistance organization and a key element in "helping the Army take care of its own". Documents needed: DA Form 1103, Military ID card, Leave and Earning Statement, leave /PCS orders and substantiating documents.
Educational Assistance
The MG James Ursano Scholarship Fund and the Stateside Spouse Education Assistance Program administered by AER, are available online December 1st and due the following March. These scholarships help Army families with the costs of post secondary undergraduate level education, vocational training, and preparation for acceptance by service academies.
The Overseas Spouse Education Assistance Program helps Army families with the costs of post secondary undergraduate level education and vocational training to prepare spouses for the job market.
